Pharmacy Etiquette Phacts - Cell Phones Please dont come up to your pharmacys pick up or drive-thru window on your cell phone. Just dont. Pharmacies are not Taco Bell.* When you pick up your burrito supreme from Taco Bell, it is not required of the cashier that they confirm your name, address and date of birth before they hand over your delicious meal. They dont need to know if youve ever had a burrito supreme, if you have any questions about your burrito supreme, or warn you about potential side effects if you eat your burrito supreme and nachos bell grande at the same time. Pharmacists and technicians on the other hand are required to verify such information with you and it really is in your best interest to give this process your undivided attention. (Besides... Do you really want whoever is on the other line to hear me tell you that we have your Valtrex ready to go but are still waiting to hear back from your doctor on the Viagra?) * For the record, its rude to be on your cell phone when you approach the counter/drive-thru of ANY establishment - you chose to seek that service at that particular moment, so hang it up! Bottom line: most chain pharmacies have customer service policies in place that require us to attend to you even if you are on your phone, but know that you are not making yourself any pharmacy friends by doing so. Its hard for us to do our job well when we are competing for your attention. #thedailydose #pharmacyetiquette #hangitup
