Phil 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. I’ve been guilty of making a platform about the way people speak to me. My motto was, “You are not going to speak to me just any ole kind of way.” But, beginning with me, we’ve got to learn to get past ourselves and start looking for God (seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you). Regardless of how the words may be coming across, if there‘s anything true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, any virtue, and if there’s any praise in what was said, those are the things we should be thinking on, not the way it was said. Sometimes we get so caught up in the trimmings that we miss the meat of the message. That’s like getting so involved with the side dishes that we throw the entrée away The attached song is my example of this lesson. When it very 1st began I said, “Not!” because I didn’t like how it started. But when I listened to what he was saying, I couldn’t argue with it. So I had to put me to the side and look at the God in it and give God all the praise. THANK YOU LORD FOR HAVING IT!!! Now, of course, there’s a flip side to this. Has anyone ever said something like this to you, “After I thought about it, what you said made a lot of sense,”? It made sense after they thought about it because they had to get over the rough exterior it was delivered with. Consider these: A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger (Pro 15:1); A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver (Pro 25:11); which is why everything should be done with a true balance (Pro 11:1). If we say it correctly from the beginning we could eliminate a lot of miscommunication and everyone, God’s will, would be better off. But when the words come out wrong, we may have just secretly killed what could have been a God-edifying experience. So put God 1st and love your neighbor as you love yourself. Don’t speak to them in a fashion less than you would have others speak to you. Love you, Eddie #Justsomethingtothinkabout
