Philippians 4:13 New International Version (NIV); “I can do all - TopicsExpress

Philippians 4:13 New International Version (NIV); “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” This came from a letter written to the Christians in Philippi during one of Paul’s imprisonments. Paul is stating that he could be content in any situation because of the strength and presence of God. He could respond in a Christian manner whether in adversity or times of ease. He would be happy to serve God in either situation. Paul looked on having “favor” in God’s eyes as an advantage for success. When you put God first, when you obey His commands, you open the door for His favor. This in turn gives you the advantage for success. Even if someone may have wronged you and it looks like they have the upper hand, even if it looks like things are never going to change, you need to keep reminding yourself, “I have an advantage. God is in control of my destiny. He’s fighting my battles for me. He is my vindicator.” We do need to be careful and realize if things just don’t seem to be going our way, yes we have strength in God but our problems do not mean God has abandoned us. Remember the book of Job. God doesn’t promise us easy times just because we follow Him. Actually He promises us hard times. Acts 5:41a Living Bible (TLB); “They left the Council chamber rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer.” Acts 14:22b (TLB); “They must enter into the Kingdom of God through many tribulations.” Paul repeats this message of reassurance in his letter to the church in Rome. Romans 8:31 (NIV); “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” In difficult times, we must remember to take comfort in God wills; He is a faithful God. We must always strive to live the Christ centered life He offers us.
