Phone scammers do have hearts! I ran out of yarn today so when a guy claiming to be from windows tech support called me it seemed like the perfect opportunity to have some fun. This is how the Conversation went... Guy: Maam we received a signal from windows saying there was a problem with your computer. Me: I dont know how that is possible...I dont have a computer. Guy: well it could be from anything connected to the wireless system in your house. Me: So is there a problem with the wiring in my house? Where are you located? Guy:Im in India. Me: If I dont have a computer and you are receiving signals from the wiring in my house all of the way in India does that mean there is something wrong with the wiring in my house? Should I call the fire department? Is my house going to burn down? Guy: no Maam...everything is ok. No need to call the fire department. How old are you? Me: (sobbing) Im 86. I am in a wheelchair and I wont be able to get out if there is a fire. Guy: Oh No Maam...everything is ok. I am very busy here so I must hang up the phone now. Me: Oh no please dont leave me now...I am scared! My son lives in canada so he cant help me! Do you have a mother? Guy: Yes and I love my mother very much. Me: well you wouldnt hang up on her if she was scared would you? After about a 15 minute conversation of him trying to console me and begging me to please hang up the phone he finally gives up and hangs up on me after telling me he had to hang up now. (I cant believe he stayed on as long as he did without hanging up) Fast forward a couple of hours. I get a call back from the same guy in India. He wanted to check on me to be sure I was ok and not scared anymore. I thanked him for his concern and I just couldnt bring myself to tell him that he had actually been scammed. Nice to know they do have a conscience. Should I be feeliing bad for the man that was trying to scam me in the first place now? lol Hubby says that the guy will probably at least think twice now before scamming.
