This afternoon a group of retired farmers from the Manor were taken on a bus trip through the beautiful valley farmlands. They pointed out many crops growing in the fields...corn, beans, carrots, onions, beets and more. Listening to them reminisce about their farm days and talk about the modern tractors and farm equipment at the John Deere dealer in Steam Mill was just wonderful. But the highlight of the day was our last stop at Lambs barn in Somerset. Byron Lamb came aboard the bus and chatted with the old farmers, and invited any that were able to get off bus to go in and walk around. It brought tears of happiness to my eyes just watching them. Then, slowly driving the bus through the barn with the door open and taking in the sounds, the smell of the barn and getting so close to the cattle was absolutely priceless. Moments that will never be forgotten.
