Photo Editor Internship (Req. #2289) (Intern/Temporary) Location: Washington DC The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks a Picture Editor Intern to support Science’s Digital Media Design group. The incumbent will assist in sourcing compelling high quality imagery for the online magazines Science Signaling and Science Translational Medicine, sections of the print magazine Science and for online content channels including web, mobile and social platforms. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a combination of routine, weekly and immediate tasks. The internship will be fulfilled on a part-time basis (15-20 hours per week; flexible). Major duties and responsibilities: Collaborates with editors to understand key story points and determine appropriate visual components Researches and sources pictures for articles and the cover of Science Signaling and Science Translational Medicine Researches and sources pictures for the Perspectives section of Science Magazine Researches and sources pictures for rotational display and other positions on the Science website Prepares imagery for digital delivery in a range of formats and sizes Minimum qualifications: Excellent organizational abilities, self-motivated, and works well under pressure Solid grounding in basic science education, particularly in biological sciences Keen eye for high-quality visuals and composition Good skills in researching digital imagery and familiarity with commercial and free stock repositories Understanding of digital image formats and properties Solid grounding in use of Photoshop for image preparation (cropping, resizing and simple manipulation) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate decisions and rationales in written and verbal forms Flexible collaborative personality; the applicant must be able to work well in a group environment and adapt effectively to evolving news situations and editorial strategies https://irecruit-us/index.php?OrgID=I20090201&pg=initiallist#job11
