Phyllis Henson Pamela McKelvy Hamner Jackie Harris...please share this! We are beginning part 2 of a research study that will take place at the end of October. The study concerns breast cancer. We are looking for women to participate who have eitherrecently undergone treatment or recently been diagnosed. (If you know someone who might qualify, please forward this email.) The study will involve participation in an online community for one hour per day (total of about 3 hours of blogging online), and those who fully participate will receive $75.00. For those who do not have high speed Internet access or who arent comfortable using a computer, there may be a small number of these conducted by telephone. Any telephone interviews will involve keeping a journal for a few days before the interview. It will pay the same as the online portion. Participants in the online community session (or telephone interview) may be asked to participate in a follow-up, 2-hour in-home interview. All participating in this in-home interview will receive an additional $125. (Thats a total of $200 if you participate in both phases!) Since the subject of the research is a womens health issue, the qualifying questions, as well as the actual interviews themselves, will involve sensitive questions about your medical history and self care. Not everyone will have to have been diagnosed with the condition to be eligible to participate. Please know that all parts of this research interviewing will be handled by women, and that all information gathered will be kept strictly confidential to be used for research purposes only. We are needing a lot of women for this research, especially those who are comfortable on the Internet and who have access to high-speed Internet, so please feel free to share this email link with female friends and family who live in Shelby County.
