Pickup up our love-hate relationship with carbs, lets go over the Pros of this macronutrient: The Pros of Carbs 1. Carbs are muscle sparing. Meaning, carbs help energy needs to get met which preserves and prevents the breakdown of muscle tissue for energy (called catabolism). 2. Carbs provide energy to the brain as well as the body. 3. Carbs help spark our metabolism and keep it elevated to prevent metabolic slowdown and keep hormones in check. 4. Cabrs stimulate insulin, which leads to a very anabolic/muscle building environment (this is kind of a catch 22... as you’ll read in about in the next post). Now, before you get overly excited and start slamming down plates of pasta, you might want to wait and read the Cons of Carbs. There is a definite crux to carb intake. But no worries...when Im done with this series of posts, youll have a full understanding of how to cycle your carb intake to maximize both your health and long term fat-loss.
