Picture of Me in 2000 and a Wonderful True Story... It Was a Friday Night in December 2000 and I was Stressed Out of My Mind... I had just woken up to the fact that I had wasted over fifty thousand of my hard-earned dollars on what could only be described as The Webmaster From Hell I had hired him to build a website and get traffic but his work was as effective as washing a hairy dog on a rainy day. And worse - he was as faithful as an assassin. I remember because `i had just finished cooking apricot chicken for my kids [it was my eldest daughters favorite at the time]. I couldnt stop thinking about how much money I had lost with absolutely nothing to show for it. I felt: - - Stupid. - - Humiliated. - - Angry. - - Confused. I decided to call a Guru in the USA whose newsletter I had been reading and ask his advice. [This was before the days of Skype so I had no alternative but to ring up huge phone bills dialing internationally]. He listened and did his best to explain what I should be doing. But it was next to useless. Maybe it was his accent. Maybe I just felt too frazzled to concentrate. Anyway I had an idea. Mate I cannot pay you anything but what if I flew you down to Australia for a week and ask you questions day and night... oh - and Ill take you to stroke a Kangaroo. What do you say? Now, unknown to me, this guy was just going through a divorce and wasnt in his right mind, so he said yes! [He later it was the idea of stroking a Kangaroo that did it]. I told him I would arrange flights and get back to him and said goodnight. And then it hit me... I had no funds whatsoever to pay his airfare! I had a small list people who had bought an e-Book I had just released How to Start An Ezine NOTE: I had paid the Webmaster from Hell $5,000 just to set up my autoresponder [remember this was 14 years ago and hardly anyone knew how to do this] Anyway, the next morning, as I was cooking breakfast for the kids, I had an idea. And I wrote to my list and was brutally honest with them. I told them: This is My Help! I Need to Raise [Guru Names] Airfare to Australia Letter... I told them who he was and how I planned to hold a one day seminar with him and get it recorded on State of the Art Audiotapes. :-) I then said we would let 16 people attend at $2,125 a head AND that they would get the Master Reprint Rights to the Seminar Recordings. It took me all of 10 minutes to write the email and hit the send button. 30 minutes later when I had dropped the kids off at school and was sat at my computer I decided to check my email - just to see if anyone had responded. What I saw made me weak at the knees. I almost fainted. All 16 spots were sold. $34,000 in 30 minutes! I had made a years income in 30 minutes - from just one email! I must admit I went bonkers! I ran outside and started doing cartwheels on my front lawn. Shouting and jumping and punching the air! And then I saw him. My next door neighbor. He was standing watering the lawn with an indescribable look on his face [Probably thought I was crazy!] I just smiled and said: GDay Mate! and went back inside. Heres the thing... I have NEVER looked back from that day. NEVER even for a single moment wish I had done something different. I absolutely LOVE working online. Now... lets talk about YOU for a moment...
