***Picture this- Youre down on your uppers, money is tight and every single financial outlay has to be questioned, rationalised and accounted for. Youve got £10 left to last you for a week and zero food to eat. What do you spend the money on to make sure you can function and survive the week? Do you fritter it away on the first tasty, processed item you see. Or...do you grab a bag of own brand oats(75p), some tins of tuna(49p each), a loaf of bread(80p) and a tray of eggs(£4) and with any money left a small jar of peanut butter? Thus covering all the major food groups. The truth is the impulse decision to buy the tastier food may give some initial satisfaction, but the long term reality is that hunger will soon return and youll be frustrated at having no more food and regret the choices you made. The £10 is your bodies ability to recover. The foods are the exercises/volume you choose in each workout. The frustration at being hungry is corresponds to frustration with results, or lack of, from exercising. Your body only has so much recoverability. Excessively over-tax the body and it CANT improve, it might not even return to where it was prior to the workout! Are you spending too much when it comes to how many sets/exercises/workouts you ask of your body? Quantity is no replacement for QUALITY. Also, fill your exercise basket with the basics movements and youll be rewarded- they get the job done in less time, at less cost. Chin ups, barbell rows, deadlifts, leg press, lunges, barbell presses, dips and other large, compound movements should comprise the majority of your workouts. These movements will give you more bang for your buck than the seemingly more (initially!) attractive array of curls, flys and raises. Spend your recoverability wisely. If youre not growing the chances are youre overdrawn! Reign in your spending, fill your basket with the right exercises and youll soon be on the right track. >Congrats to Kev Symonds and the rest of the Progress F.C. on winning again last night. A thrilling 3-2 win puts us top of the league and in with a real chance of winning the league, in just our 4th season. Stay focussed! Progress Gym is open tonight until 9.30pm***
