Pilot areas for Scottish Clares Law announced Aberdeen City and Ayrshire have today been announced as trial areas of a Scottish Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse – Clare’s Law. The pilots will start in late November and run for six months taking in the festive period, one of the known peak times of the year for domestic abuse. Tackling domestic abuse is a key priority for Police Scotland. Speaking about the pilot Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Mawson said: “I believe the introduction of the Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland will not only provide a mechanism to share relevant information about a partners abusive past with their potential victims, it will give people at risk of domestic abuse the information to assist in making an informed decision on whether to continue in the relationship. “Disclosures through the Scheme can be triggered by victims themselves, family members or another member of the public concerned about the victim, or public authorities such as the Police or Social Work.” Read more on our website at the link below.
