Pipeline replacement project set to begin at Soffel Avenue Construction will begin the week of June 10 on the Soffel Avenue water pipeline replacement project. The project includes the replacement of approximately 3,000 linear feet of water pipeline in Soffel Avenue from Opal Avenue to east San Bernardino Avenue; Turquoise Avenue from Capri Avenue to east San Bernardino Avenue; and east San Bernardino Avenue from Opal Avenue to 200 linear feet east of Soffel Avenue. The pipeline is being replaced due to its age, frequency of leaks, and red water complaints, which are associated with aging steel pipes. Construction on this project is expected to be completed by August 2013. Parking may be restricted on the affected streets during the duration of construction. Affected residents will have access to their property. Construction activities are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Signs will be posted 72 hours in advance of repaving indicating parking restrictions. The City Council awarded the $352,815.81 contract for construction of the Project to MCC Equipment Rentals, Inc. on April 16, 2013. The project is funded by water revenues. No General Fund dollars will be used to construct this project. The project was designed by and will be managed by the City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department.
