Pishamo Pen writes: i received a phone call last night around 21, ring ring ring i picked the phone and went like iwe ka father, shani, am in Livingstone, nikwisa uleika?? (hey ka priest, am in Livingstone were are you staying?), so i answered am in Kanyanta road just two houses next to the Ministers house, please who am i talking to??? he went like iwe chikamba ninebo Mwenya, mwenya your classmate pa kibo (kitwe boys) wow, after all this time was so happy to hear from my friend, iwe finshi ulechita muno mwa mukuni?? (what are you doing in chief mukunis land). i have come for a workshop till friday well i invited him for breakfast and said good night..... this morning i work up, swept, cleaned the dishes, made sure toilet was cleaner than usual for abeni and the like. he called me and asked me to stand by the gate, he was coming in a taxi...psiiii psiii i sprayed the air-freshener just to make sure all was well.... the blue taxi passed me then stopped and reversed. he got out and screamed, iwe ka ze mwaba, naukula ka mamabala ai?? (from grade 8 to 12 i was always the youngest in class (grade 12 i was just 16) well i welcomed them in my home, odi boi kalibu mwebantu... there was him, his wife and two daughters.. well they sat down and i went ku kitchen, got some eggs, some smoked sausage natu cheese na bread and put some water in the kettle. i switched on the tv and he started watching aljezeera, atleast these guys are not as biased as BBC and CNN, chimo chine nafi post newspaper boi, nafilbana he hinted i was in the kitchen and i heard him shout, so iwe mwaiche you ran away from kuli bu father?? he asked....ninshi, walitemwako kamo?? awe mudala, nshilaupa and dont think am close i answered...well he got a little vulgar and said ninshi mulefwaya ukulyafye abana ba bene?(you jus to be doing other people daughters?) well i didnt answer and just smiled softly... well we sat down to breakfast the wife said the grace and we eat.. mwaba i have to rush boi, ka first session is at 10 well i volunteered to drop him by civic center and they drove back home.. since them alot of questions are in my mind.... Well i live alone, i enjoy my freedom i love to have my glass of wine after work and just walk around in boxers in my crib but i think ive been challenged...one is the value of family, i felt so good and heart touched by my mate who used to smoke weed like anything in secondary school but is now a responsible mudala naka portbelly. before he could eat he passed on everything first to the wife and the kids and the way he looked at his wife and kids has got me thinking.. HONESTLY NACHIKUMBWA.... Some of us our family is movies, wine and whiskey nama popcorn or crisps every night... ive felt touched and challenged and am asking myself, who am i working for??? who am i hustling for?? it would be a sweet hustle to come home and the wife recieves the parcel and the kids jump on me and the madam helps me remove my glasses, my neck tie and shoes while the kids sit on my laps....would love to watch news and discuss stupid PF ministers with madam and then laugh at a poor znbc commercial and just do the family things.....family is a beautiful thing.... life yabu nkungulume bu pondo bweka bweka, nkunguleme lishilu, you ive like a soldier...... napishamo pen and i think ninkula....though you never force or rush matters...i know right now i have set my priority to getting my masters degree first before all else but sometimes somethings we experience touch us deep and make us rethink our positions..... anyway just thought of sharing my thought on what i was thinking about....ifyo nachila pishamo pen... anyway like i always say, life goes on, Gods time is the best, a friend told me if you want to make God laugh in the heavens, tell him your plans for life. then he will tell you awe muntu wandi, thats not what ive planned for you..guess the best thing then is to pray and let God reveal his will in the manner he wills and for as long as he wills, may he reveal himself to you like he did to Moses in the burning bush.... have a good day mates and God bless.............
