Pistorious only slapped with 5 years free hotel accommodation for count 1 and a suspended 5 years for handling of fire arm and these will run concurrently. What a shame. The same Judge was also reminded by Gerrie Nel that the Act she used in giving Pistorious a suspended sentence ( count 2 ) was amended in 1960 and for the mishandling of the fire arm you must automatically be convicted. I am sure that this will be appealed. As for Judge Masipa , I have no comment but in my view the innocent are not safe in this country because of stupid judgements made by our criminal justice system. I suspect though that other guys who were criminally convicted of similar crimes might revolt in our jails.
