The Pitch Perfect sequel is slated for release in a few years after the tremendous success of the first film and the actors have started to speak about their ideas for the follow-up. MTV interviewed a number of stars during the Teen Choice Awards to get their takes on Pitch Perfect 2. Like Us on Facebook Theres been talks of a sequel. I have read them just like everyone else has read them, actor Skylar Astin said. All I know is that its supposed to come out in, like, two years, so I better hear something else soon. I dont know. I think theyre writing the script now, so they dont want to tell us. Hopefully, I made the cut. He added that he wants to see the story take an international twist. I want everyone to go abroad. I want the whole thing to be international just so we can film in a really cool location, but also, I think it would be really cool to see different countries perspective on a cappella, Astin said. I think that would be really awesome. Because what do you do after you win nationals? You go international. Thats my pitch. Co-Star Adam Devine also noted that he would like to return to the franchise despite disappearing at the end of the first movie. I pitched to Kay Cannon, who wrote the movie and is writing the second one as well, that I want to come back as a K-pop star, DeVine said. Like, maybe it didnt work in America, so I went over to Korea and just blew up. So well see if she took that to heart and wrote it in the next script. Actress Hana Mae Lee was also interviewed and gave similar pitches for the sequel to that of her co-stars. You can go so many places, she said. I can go over to K-pop or J-Pop, and Rebel can go to Australia, and all just battle each other worldwide. But well see what happens. Theyre working on it. The original Pitch Perfect grossed $65 million at the domestic box office and over $100 million worldwide; the film only cost an estimated $17 million. The film was well-received by critics and holds an 81 percent approval score on aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. The sites critical consensus for the movie says, Pitch Perfects plot is formulaic, but the performances are excellent and the musical numbers are toe-tapping as well.
