Plan to record Mathew ch 5 today. This passage of scripture known as the Beatitudes is the first recorded sermon of the Lord Jesus Christ and sets out the foundation of Christian belief. Previous to the Beatitudes Jesus is tempted by the evil one and offered the kingdoms of the earth from the summit of mount everest as a deal not to preach the pure Word of God. The Lord was in the wilderness starving when satan approached him. The devil will patiently wait until that precise moment of weakness is seen and then very subtely tempt you from the path. There is no excuse to fall to temptation armed with scripture Jesus physically starving and 40 days of prayer in the wilderness is attacked by evil. The battle was over before it even begun. In order to wage spiritual war against the most evil being in creation the son of God, the Holy one of God, the Saviour of my soul prayed relentlessly 40 days and nights in a wilderness in order to prepare him for the filth that approached him. 3 times satan tempted the Lord. 3 times satan was rebuked with written Scripture. Not some idea or some self made opinion but written Scripture. Jesus Christ armed with Scripture was enough power to send satan packing this satan that tempted adam to sin, and brought death into this world through sin was now destroyed by the great prince of peace, the author of life God Himself could only deal with this e vil entity. Arm yourself with righteousnes when confronted with evil. In your moment of weakness remember that the devil first tempted Jesus and how Jesus defeated that being. This war is relentless. Prayer is the defence scripture the weapon. The blood your protection. Salvation the reward by grace.
