Planning Tips on Eating Well for Less ~Being organised is the key to cooking good food on a low budget ~Buy Seasonal foods and buy what is on special ~Have a shopping list, write it down when you run out of it. ~Use perishables first ~Plan ahead. When you have free time, pre-prepare dinner (ie; chop the veges etc), make the next days school lunches etc. ~Always, always, always (!), eat a meal before going to the grocery shops! Otherwise you will buy what you feel like eating at the time because you are hungry instead of sticking to the list. ~Use left overs for stir-frys or lunches. ~Try invest in a freezer, this way nothing needs to be wasted. ~Bake/cook in bulk and freeze! Easy az... ~Pre-plan meals for each week. This is easy to do with the grocery store circular by your side so you can check out weekly specials and plan accordingly. ~If you have older children, include them in meal planning and give them the opportunity to help with cooking or even be "chef" for one night per week. Excellent learning opportunity with a skill they will surely need when they leave home. Hope this is helpful :)
