Planning for the big sale-The World’s Longest Yard Sale! (aka The 127 Sale) It’s time to slather on the sunscreen, empty out the back seat and trunk of your car, fill the gas tank, and get ready to head up to Noccalula Falls Park to experience the World’s Longest Yard Sale which runs August 7-10 this year! The World’s Longest Yard Sale has been in existence for 28 years and is now 690 miles long, from Gadsden to North Addison, Michigan. In Gadsden, the Sale starts at Noccalula Falls Park, where hundreds of vendors set up throughout the front of the Park. It’s a great setting to see so many vendors so accessible, and to be able to also enjoy the Park and the Falls. It could easily take you two days to explore the Park and all the vendors, but then you just hop in you vehicle and head up Tabor Rd on a funderful road trip and slowly work your way up the Lookout Mountain Parkway. As you head north out of Etowah County, the roadsides will be covered up with yard sales at almost every house and empty lot. As you head farther north past the county line, the sales thin out a touch. Just before you hit the county line, you’ll come across the Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department. This is a great place for lunch or dinner as they serve a great meal. Continue north until you reach the intersection of the Parkway and Hwy 68. There, hundreds of vendors will be set up on all four corners. Continuing north toward Mentone the yard sales again seem to be at every house and open area. Some words of advice: Take cash- few vendors have the ability to accept credit cards. Carry lots of water and hydrate often. Have lots of room to carry your purchases in your vehicle. Be careful driving and be on the lookout for cars pulling over or pulling out suddenly. Bring sunscreen and bug spray. Be prepared to haggle and bargain!
