Platforms of Discipleship by YDi True discipleship is possible on three major platforms: Fellowship, Commission and Empowerment. The Bible says, And He ordained twelve, that they should be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils Mark3:14-15 FELLOWSHIP - that they should be with Him Fellowship is a major platform for discipleship. You and I can not be groomed as disciples unless we embrace fellowship. I mean if we embrace personal friendliness and companionship with the Lord. Do you have a personal fellowship with the Lord? Do you treasure hanging or camping around Him? Do you love His words? Do you love to be with Him? Questions. Questions. Beloved these questions are necessary! They are intended to provoke a reaction. Not just a reaction but self verification. You and I need to ask ourselves constantly to verify whether we are in fellowship with Him or not. We should ask ourselves thought provoking questions. Questions that will help us look within our hearts to know the true state of our fellowship with Him. These days so many of us are beclouded with so many activities that we careless or care little about vital issues that make for outstanding christian walk. We are always too busy in the office or consumed with much church activity to have time with the Lord personally. We cannot claim to be true disciples if we do not have time with and for Him. My Beloved, please do not allow your religious activities to deceive you via false sense of being in fellowship. Going to church for corporate fellowship or doing one thing or the other in church does not suggest you have fellowship with Him. The hallmark of true discipleship is your readiness and willingness to spend some time with the Lord daily in personal fellowship. By all means, spend time in bible study and prayers daily. Having a daily quiet time in His presence shows you are a true disciple! In the above passage, our Lord Jesus placed high premium on fellowship. Your making as a true disciple is tied true fellowship. Engage in a true fellowship with the Lord today and always! COMMISSION - that He might send them forth to preach Personal fellowship with the Lord will serve as a vital platform to prepare you for the assignment He has for you. When you hang around Him in worship and word study, the Lord, through His Spirit inspires you on what He wants you to do for Him in your family, campus, office, church, community, nation and generation. He tells you what to be, do and where to go. Beloved, let me ask you sincerely, are you a stranger to the Lord? Are you sure He knows you as ever present disciple who is always around Him? The point is that the Lord does not commission strangers! He does not commission one-leg in one-leg out disciples! No! He only commissions those who have been staying with Him, and known His likes and dislikes, dos and donts; those that have known His heart beats. May be, the reason why you dont know what to do at times, or have not discovered your mission on earth as a christian is because you have not stayed with Him. Do you want to be commissioned to do remarkable and great work in your generation? Then make every effort to camp around the Lord daily. EMPOWERMENT - to have power to heal and to cast out devils When you have stayed with Him and connected to His heart and mission, He will commission you to do great things for Him and humanity. But first, you need empowerment! The Lord will not send or commission you without empowering you. No! He told His disciples not to depart Jerusalem until they were empowered. While gathering in the upper room in obedience to the Lords command, 120 disciples were empowered by the Holy Spirit to carry the gospel to the ends of the world. When you are given a mandate by the Lord, you will surely be empowered to fulfill the mandate. You will be empowered with spiritual and material resources to accomplish it. David was given a mandate to rule the entire nation of Israel, but he needed human resources to accomplish his mandate. God empowered him with men who volunteered to fight for his enthronement. The Bible says, Then the Spirit came upon Amasai who was chief of the captains and he said, thine are we David, and on thy side thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band. 1chro.12:18 You cannot accomplish divine assignment by human strength or abilities. Therefore, every disciple must submit himself or herself to the Lord for empowerment! Pray that the Lord may empower you with both divine and human resources to help you accomplish your mandate. You are well favoured!
