Plattsburg High School Daily Announcements Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 Good luck to the Cross Country Team today at Smithville, Good luck to the lady golfers today at Lawson, Good luck to the Softball team today at Dearborn & Good Luck to the volleyball team today at Oregon! Reminder: Tomorrow is late start Wednesday. Breakfast starts at 8:45 and first bell is at 9:03. If you arrive prior to 9:03 a.m. you must you must report to the cafeteria until the release bell rings and you cannot be in the hallways. 1st Hour starts at 9:18 a.m. The cross country team will be running at Smith’s Fork Park in Smithville today at 4 pm. Directions to the meet are below. This is one of the closer meets for the XC team, so try to come out and support them! They don’t get a lot of support as there are no home meets, so let’s try to make this one as close to a home meet as possible. This is the Ambush Army Event of the week so if you wear your shirt you will get 5 Ambush Army Points awarded. Please sign in with Mrs. Marchbank. Directions from 169 Highway: Take DD highway east through historic downtown Smithville approximately 1.25 miles to Litton Way (this road goes across Smithville Lake Dam) head north on Litton Way and take the first left, Smith’s Fork Dr. Follow to Campground on left. Thursday, the Softball and Volleyball game will be a “Camo-Out” theme for each game. The softball game will start at 4:30 and the Volleyball game starts at 5:00. We really want a big crowd there for both games. If you are decked out in camo, you will receive 3 points for attending the game. Also, there will be 5 *BONUS* points handed out randomly to students who show the most spirit in dress and in general. So, show your support for both teams and let’s SEE and HEAR you! Ambush Army Members: Thursday, October 1st during advisory, the Ambush Army members will be taking a group picture. Please remember your t-shirt! The Media class is taking individual and team sports pictures tomorrow. The coaches will have order forms if you wish to purchase the pictures. These pictures will also go into the yearbook. The schedule is: Wed 9/25 - HS Girls Golf at 3:45, HS Cross Country at 4:15, Cheer at 4:45, MS Football at 5:30, HS Softball at 6:00. Any seniors whose family wishes to put a Senior Ad in this year’s yearbook can do so by picking up a form in the office. The deadline for ads is December 15th! You must have your artwork, photos and copy submitted by that date along with your payment. Talk to Kim Longwell or the office staff if you have any questions. Cost for this year’s ads is: ¼ page for $50, ½ page for $75, Full page is $100 Notes From the Counselor: • Any sophomores interested in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership (HOBY) conference should see Mrs. Ogden. Info is posted outside the guidance office. • The middle school is still looking for 5-10 juniors and seniors to speak w/ the middle school students during Red Ribbon Week. If you are interested please see Mrs. Ogden. • The deadline to register for the October 27th ACT is this Friday, September 27th. The high school and elementary school art students will be showing off some of their best work at the Plattsburg Fall Festival on Saturday, October 5th. Make sure you come out and see what they can do! November 1st & 2nd the art students will team up again with the Plattsburg Artist Coalition and participate in a dual show alongside professional and working artists. Donations supporting the annual Fine Arts scholarship benefiting local budding artists will be accepted by the Plattsburg Artist Coalition. This will take place at the Community Courtyard Center at 117 W. Maple, Plattsburg. Refreshments will be served so come out and support the arts. You can see Mrs. Wenzel for more information. Each football game is filmed and all game films are posted online for coach and player review. The software we use for this has a new option to allow anyone access to that film via computer, tablet, or smart phone. If you have any interest in having access to this please follow the link below. You will have access to our sideline camera immediately following the game every Friday.
