The campaign waged against Amendment 2 has been deceitful, chock full of lies. Lies? That might sound harsh, but opponents have tried to turn this into a referendum on drug legalization – not a bad idea, but that’s not what is on the ballot as Amendment 2. Amendment 2 would allow medical use of marijuana for patients with debilitating illnesses and those suffering from the effects of chemotherapy, with their doctor’s recommendation. Don’t let the lies be rewarded with a win. Get the information you need to vote for Amendment 2. They’ve tried to scare voters about children getting access to marijuana, increased crime, and more. They hide from the voters the positive track record of medical marijuana in 23 other states, research on the medical uses of marijuana, and the Legislature’s approval, just this year, of a strain of marijuana to help alleviate epileptic seizures in children. By resorting to deception and scare tactics, opponents are also cruelly turning their backs on Floridians who could benefit from marijuana to relieve their suffering. The people of Florida had no other alternative than to “go over the heads” of our out-of-touch Legislature and use Florida’s system of a people’s constitutional amendment.
