Although it closed in 2006, the venue showcased some of the most influential, raw and cutting edge bands in the history of music. Everyone from The Talking Heads, Patti Smith, The Ramones, Blondie, The Dead Boys, Soul Asylum, The Police, Bruce Springsteen, The Velvet Underground, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The B-52s, The Runaways, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have graced the stage of CBGB.
