Plaza MITC – The New International Gateway to Melaka Jun 06, 2013 The unveiling of Plaza MITC in Ayer Keroh, Melaka on 5 June heralded a new international gateway to Melaka for the international business, investment and tourist communities. Plaza MITC is a mixed development project comprising a 4-star hotel, full service apartments and a retail shopping precinct in the style of Melaka’s famed Jonker Street situated adjacent to the Melaka International Trade Center (MITC). Plaza MITC’s strategic location fronting the main Ayer Keroh road, 5 minutes from the Ayer Keroh toll plaza and 10 minutes from Melaka city, makes it a strategic venue for those wanting to visit and do business in Melaka. The Plaza MITC development, with a gross development value of RM300 million and occupying an area of 2.8 ha, comprises a 301 room 4-star hotel, a convention and banquet hall for 800 people (the largest in Ayer Keroh and one of the largest in Melaka) plus five commercial blocks comprising 480 service apartments and 166 retail lots expected to be completed by January 2014 and open for business in March 2014. According to Dr Teoh Lian Hong, the Managing Director of Plentifield Marketing, the developers of Plaza MITC, the scheduled opening for Plaza MITC coincides with Melaka’s increasing importance not only as a tourist destination but as a business destination as well. Dr Teoh said, “Melaka is becoming increasingly important as a place to do business. There is a growing demand for hotel rooms, service apartments, corporate offices, meeting venues and retail outlets under one roof which is what Plaza MITC offers and more.” "Plaza MITC is Plentifield Marketing’s first project in Melaka and we see its huge potential in view of its strategic location, luxurious offerings and with the added advantage of being near Melaka City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,” he added.
