Please Accept my apology for writing this novel..I know it is long but I promise it is worth reading.....RAOK of Ages...Hey all..Happy New Year..For all those with broken wings..May our Father fix them..so you can learn to fly again.. OK so I have been really busy caring for my MIL and a few others that I RAOKed last year..Today I was running a few errands..I was in one of those strip malls that has food places 99 cent store and a grocery store..I was going through my back pack to see how much cash I had on me...well this little girl must have been about 15 asked If I could spare any change for food...so I asked her why are you out here...where is your family...well she started to cry...(that is my Kryptonite)..she was finally able to tell me her family was there with her..I asked if we could go see mom for a minute..she walks towards the back of the stores towards the alley way in back..so I said whoa wait a minute let me drive back there..I wanted to be in my truck ..with it running..JUST IN CASE...so I turn the corner and there is a van parked back there with the doors open and a bunch of folks around it...2 kids playing kick the can..I have not seen that in a long time..I get out and start scanning the situation....There is.. mom..A very old set of grand parents...a little querio Taco bell dog.. the 2 smaller kids and another teen girl..maybe 12 or 13....so total is 7..the girl tells me that her mom only speaks Spanish..well luckily so do I...She told me her story..they lost Dad a couple of months ago...he was step dad to all the kids..and they lived together in a nice house in Escondido...when dad died his brother came and told the family that the house was in his name..as he had lent his brother a large sum money...and the house was the collateral for the loan...this man told them they had to move out as he was going to allow his son and wife to live in it..The family packed what they could which she said was not much...she had some money in an account..which they used to get a hotel until they could arrange to go to AZ as mom has sisters there..so they were now in the process of trying to get to AZ..what ever money she had was spent already..and they were trying to get food and gas if possible..so the daughter was pan handling in the parking lot..I asked how much did you collect..she said about 12 dollars..which they used to buy peanut butter and bread some milk for the little ones...man what an awful way to have live ..no husband... kicked out of the home they were living in....I asked her if they liked Del Taco..everyone said yes please..so I took the girl to Del taco and ordered three family packs..so it was 15 tacos and 15 burritos..we went back and I see that grandpa did not get up from where he laying in the back of the van..mom told me he was diabetic and had run out of his insulin..OMG... I asked which insulin he took and it was the same one I use...So I told her I could go get some and bring it back..okkk so now they have something to eat and I asked the kids what did Santa bring them...they did not answer me..the oldest got really close to me and told me they had missed Halloween..Thanksgiving..and Christmas..Oh man that is so wrong in so many ways..I got the kids together all 4..and gave the littlest 10 dollars each and the older girls 20.00 each...it was all I had cash wise on me..so I told them take...I told them go top the 99 cent store and buy what ever want..the little ones were super happy and excited..In the mean time I went home and got the Insulin..I grabbed 20 pens ..needles..the spare blood sugar tester and test strips..about 500.00 dollars if you have no insurance and this family had none..i grabbed some can goods..a camping stove that uses the little propane bottles..old frying pan and an old pot..I had a box full of spoons napkins and packets of mustard mayo catchup.. a couple of cases of water..I also had some 5 dollar food cards to In and Out..that were gifted by my beautiful and awesome friend.Elle Linda Johnson...I had three left..and 2 subway 5 dollar cards..I went back to where the family was and gave them all the stuff grandpa could not believe that I gave him the insulin..luckily I paid nothing for... as my insurance covered them last year...I have a new plan this year and have no clue yet if they cover my insulin...so i know and understood why he was laying down and had no energy to move..OKK the kids are back and I see the little ones with toys and some candy...I asked the older ones if they found anything they wanted..they told me they pooled their money and bought food that would not go bad quickly for the trip to AZ..wow that blew me away..I know they could have used the money for anything for themselves..yet they wanted to help their family first...well my first RAOK of the year was a doozy...mom told me they were leaving as soon as they collected enough for gas...I asked how much gas she had..she said almost on empty and the gas light had not come on yet..I told her to follow me about 8-10 miles so I could fill her tank..she was saying no no you have already done enough..I told her I wanted to do this final RAOK for her and the family..well we made it..I used my Costco card and their American Express card..she pulled up and i swiped the cards..I was shocked as gas was 2.29 cents..I knew the credit card was close to being maxed out..I pumped her gas and the whole time in my head was saying please Lord let their be enough to fill the tank..the pump stopped at 28.00 dollars so I pulled the handle again and it stopped again..I was like man I hope the tank is full and not the credit card hitting the max...I asked her if the tank was full she checked and said yes and thank you so much...all the kids gave me hugs and high fives..grandma even hugged me and said I am so sorry to take your medicine away from you..I told him not to worry..I had enough for me as well..All set to go..Mom came and hugged me and said a very quiet prayer while crying...I watched them drive off and silently asked that they make it to AZ...well with all that we did i still managed to do my honey doos..lol..If you read this please say a prayer for the Dominguez family.....
