Please Read to the end. Very Important. Hello my FB friends, Most of you have possibly seen my postings alerting you about online scams and the need to report the scam. If we dont report a scam it will help the scams to continue. Scams have become very lucrative. They have become the only way of earning a living for many people This crime goes on right here in America. Many people still think this crime is only done by people in some African Country. That is incorrect. Your neighbor may be doing it. I never thought I would personally know someone who was literally robbed of all she had by a scammer. Please read her story. This can easily happen to you, too. In Summary: An 84 year old widow, in very poor health, needed to upgrade her home to meet her medical needs. She lives alone and has no children living locally. She admits to being shy and did not ask anyone for help. She proceeded to hire a contractor. He asked her for a substantial deposit. She paid the deposit. The man returned a few days later and seemingly began to work in her home. A few days later he asked her for more money to purchase more supplies. Again, she paid what the contractor asked for. This went on for several weeks. However, she noticed that the actual work was not making substantial progress. Being so shy, she was too afraid to ask why the construction was moving so slow. She now says that the men seemed to not really know what they were doing. They seemed to be trying to figure things out as they went along the construction. She felt scare and felt she made a mistake in hiring this contractor. However, she had already paid him over $ 150.000 (One Hundred and fifty thousand dollars) for supplies and labor. She felt stuck with these people. In the next couple of weeks the 2 men working with the contractor slowly stopped coming to work. The contractor asked her for another $50.000 (fifty thousand dollars) to hire better workers. She,reluctantly, paid him the money. The next day the contractor did not come to work. She has not seen him since. She has tried to reach him with no luck. He left her home a mess. It has been over 6 months and she has not heard from this contractor. It is clear that he took her money and he is not going to return to complete the construction...Lola (the lady I am writing about) is devastated. I went to her house to greet her, today. I saw the mess and asked her about it. In tears she told me the incident. It was very hard for her to tell me. It took her over 2 hours to tell me what happened to her with this contractor. She cried the entire time. It broke my heart to hear what this contractor did to a senior citizen. I called the police to file a police report. I called the BBB and filed a report. The police is searching for the contractor to arrest him. However, they cannot restore her current medical needs and her needs for construction in her home.She needs to be able to use a wheelchair in the home. She needs a ramp to get in and out of her home. Her kitchen needs a great deal of work so she can use it while sitting in a wheel chair. Also her bathroom needs work. She wants to remain in her home. She is alert and does not want to go to a nursing home. All that she needed was her home to be upgraded so she can get around in her wheel chair. However, this contractor stole her money and left the work in the middle of her living room. His Name is Mario Gomez. Dont hire him. It is very possible that was not his real name. She does not want anyone to know what happened to her. She is very ashamed. I asked her if it was okay for me to place an announcement on FB to let people know and maybe they can send her a small donation. It took her over one week to say yes to me. I gave her a substantial donation. She needs to hire an honest man to finish the work. Her savings are depleted. This women is in very poor health. She would actually benefit from a caregiver. I am working on getting her a caregiver through Medicare and community agencies. So, I am asking, if you can, make a small donation for this lady in need. she will appreciate it. I will also appreciate it. I made my own donation and will continue to make donations to assist her. If all you can afford is $1.00 that is fine. Every little bit helps. It adds up.
