Please allow me to introduce myself... Im Simon Morris, a 43 year old has been 1st Cat, who found his love of cycling again after a 17 year break from our beautiful sport. Id just like to say its both an honour and a pleasure to be a member of Team Cystic Fibrosis, and associated with such a worthy cause and group of members - many Ive fond memories of our days racing together some 20+ years ago. I can relate to the condition of Cystic Fibrosis. My cousin had the condition from a young baby and sadly passed away at the age of 18. She struggled immensely, but always had a smile and put up a fight until the end. Fast forward some 25 years, and coming to terms with the heartache of my wifes 2 year affair, the breakup of our 19 year marriage and ultimately the time being apart from my 12 year old son, Harrison until I return to him in New Zealand early next year... I came to the conclusion over a year ago that I wanted to give something back to a charity organisation - to prove to myself that life isnt all doom and gloom due to my current circumstances. There are far worse people off - I still have my son, Harrison to love and to cherish... but like I say, it will give me great pleasure giving something back to a much worthy cause and organisation by making people more aware of Cystic Fibrosis and raising funds in the process. The bike is my medicine, and sees me through some tough times - but if I can wear the colours of Team Cystic Fibrosis and do my bit at making people more aware, raising funds and generally helping out, then it will give me a great sense of achievement. It will also allow me to be connected to a great group of lads, who have offered words of help and support since going public about my wifes affair. Ive fond memories competing against the likes of Martin Dainty, Glen Saxton, Lee Dixon, Daz Thompson and Steve Whittington to name but a few... so to me it just feels right altogether joining Team Cystic Fibrosis. Hope Ive not waffled on too much. Its time to start doing my bit and giving back... lets make life a happier and better place for those less fortunate, Im really looking forward to the challenge. See you on the road soon guys, especially some autumn/winter club rides... take care! Cheers Si :-)
