Please allow me to share this mornings meditation with you. Hebrews 2:18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. I am convinced that when it comes to the power that we have over present sin, we just dont get it. Maybe we really believe that dealing with sin was easier for Jesus because He was Gods son and He knew it. Maybe He could behave well because He knew that complete humanity was a temporary condition for His time on earth. He was sure of His position and inheritance. Shouldnt we be of the same mind? Are we not fully adopted and positioned in the heavenlies with such an inheritance? Individual sins are not diseases, nor excused by genomes. However, sin is a disease. Sin is universal and we are all born that way. There is not a single dishonest, creatively vile, or form of perversity to which we are immune. We must all confess, but for the grace of God, there go I. Either we have the power to walk in victory over sin or the Bible is wrong. We do not get to excuse sin because we dont understand. Gods Word is true whether I understand it or not. The truth that insist that we take responsibility for our actions is the same truth that offers cleansing and victory. Speaking for myself, I make my own choices. I do understand that when I choose to sin that I am giving preference to something other than God’s victorious will for me. Lord, help my unbelief. (caz)
