Please check out this VERY worthy cause! This may be the last day for domestic violence awareness month, but that doesnt and domestic violence. This nightmare is very real for so many, and it is something that is important to me for obvious reasons. It has taken six years of being out from under his grip for me to finally begin speaking up. Think about that, and then imagine how much harder it is for someone who is still trapped to have the courage to say something. It is not as black-and-white as so many people believe it is, we cannot simply walk away. They take away our resources, I believe in ourselves, our belief in others, and isolate us from our families. If you suspect that somebody you know is struggling with this nightmare, please reach out to them. You may be the only person who ever does, and you very well may save their lives. An amazing organization that is doing so much to help people break free from this is the Lioness Foundation. They offer temporary housing, assistance in filing for protection, stand by your siding court so that you are not alone and intimidated, job training, and support beyond measure.
