Please consider Bill Wild for Wayne County CEO on August 4th. He is the only candidate with the experience and track record of turning around a municipality (Westland), which continues to thrive today. All the empty promises of the other candidates, combined with their own failures to demand or effectuate change during their previous tenures as Wayne County employees/elects, will lead to an emergency manager if the necessary long term outlook and structural changes are not implemented. Business and residents must be able to feel welcome and invited to participate in the renewal of Wayne County, instead of dealing with the bureaucratic inefficiencies that leads them away to other counties. Wayne Countys main source of operating revenue is property tax collections. Because of the 2007-2008 housing crisis, and reduction in the number of Wayne County residents, the property tax revenue has drastically been reduced and thus the operating budgets must follow. Because of the current laws in Michigan, the revenue will only come back slowly and take years to adjust back to peak level. Therefore, new thinking and ideas are needed to ensure that Wayne County will continue to operate at a level expected by its residents. Bill Wild was able to address these very same issues in Westland, and the citys budget is now balanced well into the future. The same cannot be said for Wayne County and all the candidates who have been involved in Wayne County politics over the last several who contributed to the problem or stood by and passed blame while the problems were passed along for future administrations to deal with.
