Please dont blame me because i am a child nd am alwys in tune wit popular opinion. I am constantly told dat my mates are doin well academicaly; that my mates are enterin the univasity; that my mates are buyin this nd that gadget; that my mates are choosing lucrative careers; that my mates are dating nd so on. Please dont blame me because i am a woman nd always dont want to be left out of any discussion. I am constantly told that my mates are wearing the lates fashion; that my mates are getting married; that my mates are sending their children to the most expensive schools, and so on. Please dont blame because i am a man and i have an ego that makes me always strive to outclass my peers. I am constantly told that my mates are working in big companies; that my mates are buying cars and building houses; that my mates are doing their masters and professional certifications; that my mates are traveling abroad in search of greener pastures nd so on. But now, i blame myself. Society continually told me the best way to measure success or progress was to compare myself with agemates, classmates or peers. I didnt know what was wrong with that until recently . I was so caught up wit catching up that i lost my identity. I was so obsessed with following the trends that i lost my path. Now i am buried in the crowd. If only i had looked to history for help, i would have met Justin Winsor and James Garfield earlier. Justin Winsor is a prominet American writer,historian and librarian who wrote and edited some of the most important historical works of the 19th century, while James Garfield is the 20th president of the United States .These two people were age mates but were too busy to compete with each other. They were both born in 1831. while Justin Winsor was born in Boston, Massachusetts to a shipping merchant James Garfield was born in Ohio to a poor Farmer and yet they were both accomplished men in life ..so its a proof that life is not a competition.
