She turned to me and snapped a curt and peremptory No, its not Bach. I did not insist, but when I walked out, I saw her waiting outside one of the bathrooms and said to her, But it is Bach, with the same semi-apologetic tone that Galileo might have used when saying Eppur si muove. Out came the same barked, No, its not Bach. But it is, I said putting on the magisterial air that all oldish profs know how to affect with indentured ignorance.
