Please join the Heritage Council of North Augusta on Tuesday, October 1st, at 7:00 p.m. at the North Augusta Community Center for a fascinating presentation about the Panama Canal. Tom Robertson will speak about the history and original construction with a photographic tour and how the canal affects those of us living in South Carolina and Georgia. And, of course, there will be the historical local connection...! Robertson is a native Augustan and an advocate of historic preservation. He has restored four award-winning historic buildings in Augusta He is a past president of Historic Augusta, Inc. and has been recognized by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation for lifetime achievement. He has published many articles on local and regional history and is currently working on a book about a Civil War surgeon, scheduled to be in print in 2014.
