Please join us in welcoming Grant Philp as a new co-owner of TheRingLord ! Jon and Bernice have been running TheRingLord as the duo of Captain Chaos and Madam Order for over 15 years. We are very excited to welcome our new partner Grant (nickname yet to be determined). Grant’s company, Spathis Philp, has been making all of our saw cut bright anodized aluminum rings for over 4 years. Grant has a great wealth of knowledge about aluminum anodizing and saw cutting. We purchased Spathis Philp and with that purchase we now have a 2nd location and staff in Toronto. This purchase will give us access to a lot of fun toys that will help us improve our products and offerings. The joining of our teams is intended to free up time for Jon and Bernice to develop more fun product lines, kits and instructions. Grant wrote the following to introduce himself. “Hi my name is Grant, my introduction to chain maille came about while working as CTO at McGill University doing middle of the night server upgrades. Afterwards, I would go visit two night owl friends that had a chain maille company. They had developed a machine that could weave anodized chain maille without scratching the surface of the rings. Well, as time went on, I became disenchanted with my job at the university as I felt I had become a cog in a giant machine and I needed something fresh and completely new. Fate stepped in, as one friend in the chain maille business was looking for a new partner with admin experience and I jumped on it, left the university, and my chain maille adventure began. For approximately 7 years our chain maille company Spathis Philp Inc. did restaurant/store interiors, fashion, and movie costume chain maille projects culminating in a 1000 sq. ft. project done for the Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco. Well, one fine day, we decided to send a sample of our chain maille to The Ring Lord thinking we might get a little business, and things took off big time (currently we manufacture roughly 25 million rings per month). The next evolution took place 3 years later with us moving our operation from Montreal to Toronto to achieve better color consistency and integrating our process with the anodizer. Which brings me to today, Jon and Bernice were always very generous with their time and knowledge so when they approached me to join their company, it was a no brainer. So here I am looking forward to interacting with all our customers and helping introduce many new cool products because… “We make it - You create it”.”
