Please keep in mind, PTSD does not only effect military and those who have gone to war. PTSD can affect anyone under any traumatic circumstance, it does not discriminate, no one is immune. I was held for 4 days and beaten to the point that I had a skull fracture, among other things. Just that event alone would be enough for PTSD, but I also have other complex traumatic events in my past. I promise you, anyone can suffer from it. And it is not any fun at all, especially in the beginning when every thought you have surrounding the traumatic event turns into horror and tears. Later, you can think about what happened more and not feel as terrified, and it does get less painful every day, month, year, but it never goes away, and anything can trigger how you felt when you first had PTSD to begin with.
