Please let me preach a littl...James Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. I like to do word studies when I study the Bible, as the Bile was originally written in Hebrew for the Old Testament and Greek in the New, we can learn and get a better understanding by studying the scripture in language that it was written. Now before someone gets bend out of shape with me let me explain! We do the same thing with English when we read we come upon a word that we do know and if we are serious about learning we immediately find a dictionary and look it up. That is essentially what we do when we do word studies in the scripture. Now read the rest of this I think you will be blessed. Our text scripture is taken from one of the most well known passages from the Bible. As a matter of fact many that would think I am adding to or taking away from the scripture base one of their key doctrines on the passage this comes from and believe me I am not writing this to try and dispute their doctrine though I would possibly disagree with their doctrine. If anything I am trying to bring even more light to this verse. Most spend much time and effort on the portion of the verse that speaks of tongues. The word where the word tongue come from is the Greek word “glwssa ”a language especially, one naturally un-acquired. While this word is important there is another word I wish to define and when I do if you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide your mind it will bless you greatly. Many seem to think that the act of speaking in tongues is the greatest point of the verse, while it is important the other word is that which kick starts my shout in gear. That word is “pneuma ”a current of air, breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, by implication, a vital principle, mental disposition of superhuman or angelic, God or Christs spirit, the Holy Spirit. Now to make it easy for us to understand it means “the breath of God.” What does this all come down to? God who made this earth out of nothing and hung it on nothing and gave it a spin and it has not stopped yet, the great one and only God that hung every star and set every moon, that God who commands the winds and the rains and the sunshine, that One and Only divine God Jehovah, the great I AM has literally BREATHED ON HIS CHILDREN! Well Glory….Hallelujah! Ya’ll go ahead and speak in tongues and impress all your friends with your spirituality, I prefer to just steal away , prostrate myself before HIM and let God continue to breathe on me……James
