Please pray for Joe and Laurie Elizabeth Williams who were in the Honda of this crash. Shes in critical condition. Story follows. HOUSTON — Two people were killed and four more remain injured Friday after a dump truck crashed into several vehicles at a Beltway 8 toll plaza, deputies confirmed. The chain collision crash happened at a toll plaza in the westbound lanes near Antoine around 11 a.m. According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, a garbage truck, owned by Global Waste Services, struck an extended cab truck carrying four people, then crashed into a gold Honda with a Pct. 4 deputy constable and his wife inside. The dump truck then slammed into a pickup truck that was stopped at the toll plaza, hit a concrete barrier and burst into flames, deputies said. Brian McKinney works nearby and heard the crash. “It just started burning…several hundred feet behind the truck and several hundred feet in front of it. Caught everything on fire,” McKinney said. McKinney said the fire raged quickly and engulfed the vehicle on its side. The dump truck driver and the pickup truck driver both died at the scene. “It looks like he either lost control or struck those vehicles and as a result of striking the first one hit the remaining two vehicles,” Cpt. Ronnie Glaze, with the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office, said. Investigators said the deputy constable and his wife were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition. Two of the four passengers in the extended cab truck were also taken to the hospital, deputies said. Their conditions and injuries were not known. The accident shut down all westbound lanes of the North Belt, causing traffic to back up for miles. “It is brutal. Bumper to bumper back to (Interstate) 45, about 2 miles in about an hour,” one driver said. Drivers were frustrated since most were not receiving information of what had happened. “It’s been terrible because there is no information whatsoever,” said another driver who had been stuck in traffic for two hours. The entire wreck was captured on video recorded at the toll plaza, which will be reviewed.
