Please pray for my aunt Joyce her is what is happening tomorrow morning This is the information regarding surgery scheduled for this Wednesday, March 12th. Will not know time until Tuesday night. -Mass is on the middle lobe, right side. -3 centimeters in size, located near chest wall. -Based upon the metabolic activity as seen on PET scan, it is cancerous. -During surgery, they will make an incision between ribs. They will remove the whole tumor and send it to pathology who will determine what kind of cancer. Bases upon results, the surgeon may have to remove the entire middle lobe. He will also test lymph nodes in that area. (Dr. said removal of lobe will not cause any reduction in breathing or activity after surgery.) -Lymph node test results in 5 days. -Hospital stay 3 - 5 days. Recovery approx. 4 weeks. 2 weeks activity w/some pain 4 weeks back to full activity. Walking very important for lung healing. -Oncology consultation after surgery based on results.
