Please read......FYI....about Impetego Yesterday I got a call from someone concerned that my son had impetego,apparently there is an outbreak at the school.I had wriiten on facebook when my kids were sick for two weeks,flu,colds,and benny with his poison sumac episode,and noel with strep throat.Benny had to take meds for 10 days,and noel just recently got diagnosed with strep,so he is on a 10 day regimen of antibiotics.Just FYI for those that are scared of this impetego,or have ones that have it........Impetego is a very contagious skin infection,it is passed on by contact with anything the infected person has touched,and the bacteria gets into any open sores including bug bites. The weird thing is that it will clear itself up in two weeks time,but if it becomes severe or bothersome it(sores) can be cleared up with antibiotic ointment or a prescription of antibiotics.The sores start out looking like bug bites,but they get really red,big,itchie and exude a pus like substance,and when a kid scratches them thats how they either spread the infection to other parts of their body or to others. This is one of those illnesses that is labeled a kids disease,because young children tend to touch everything.Dont know if the ITPHC is going to put anything out about it,so i thought I would google it,and tell everyone,and I saw a little girl downtown at the grocery store who i believe is suffering from this,by the looks of her sores on her body,but her babysitter insisted it was bug bites,just feel bad for the girl that is suffering,cause her babysitter dont like listening to anyone,its amazing that someone who doesnt have any kids but is a professional in the subject.
