Please read-one of my best rants ever-fact check me-I wont hate you! Now I like football as much as any average American-however,I find it disturbing (and this is just one current example) that the NFL is a non-profit organization.The city of Minneapolis was recently awardedthe 2018 superbowl.They are currently building a 500 million dollar facility to host the event,mostly at taxpayer expense.Then,the NFL,like a spoiled rockstar,puts reams of contract riders in-as if a taxpayer funded stadium wasnt enough-free parking for 35,000 employees,family,friends,sponsors,etc.Next,free high end suites in the best hotels for all officials,friends,family,sponsors.Then,100 percent of all ticket revenue at the venue.Roger Goodell makes 40 million dollars,and taxpayers subsidize building a stadium,and provide top of the line diva accomodations free of charge for these people.It gets better.Being a non-profit allows the NFL to solicit volunteers to work for free in pursuit of its stated mission to make sure no nacho goes uneaten,or whatever that is-so-you can do charity work by going to the superbowl-at your own expense-and cleaning up after people who are of a station in life to go for free and be treated like gods mostly at taxpayer expense.Make sense? And maybe youll catch a minute or two of the game if youre lucky enough to get inside trash duty! Look,I,as an overtaxed working person myself,dont like welfare abuse anymore than you do-but can we at least acknowledge corporate welfare is at least as bad as feeding hungry lazy people?
