Please read the following about the new moderator for this page so that my knowledge base can be utilized to assist you about issues that surround this movement. Reading, recruiting and sharing are crucial to our success. You make change in a system from the inside out or by forcing that system into a hostage like situation. These are a the lessons I learned growing up with an Edward Abbey loving, social working, father that is not your typical Utahn. I am very appreciative to be a new moderator that will try to assist Cami and the people who read this page. My background and experiences in civil disobedience, the law, social work and affiliation with groups that push for progress has resulted in a very high rate of airport searches in the last ten year and a lot of hard lessons learned about these issues. Malcolm X, Mandela, MLK, Justice Richard Goldstone, Thoreau, Panthers, and the Monkey Wrench Gang have all been extremely influential in what I believe and how I approach situations like the one we all face. I kept seeing ideas or statements (not on this page) about legal issues and creating progress in the latest movement for changing the martial law situation that were incorrect legally and flawed approaches that have failed in the past. I wanted to contribute what I could to ensure that our legal arguments are correct and we do not lose the battle using techniques that have been proven to result in no change historically. I have spent nearly 15 years in our criminal justice system starting as a juvenile corrections counselor, working with the San Diego Public Defenders office, innocent project, National Lawyers Guild as a legal observer for protests, strategist for environmental non profits, supervising and trying serious felonies for the domestic violence unit for two New Mexicos districts domestic violence unit and finally trying serious felonies for the NM Public Defenders office in Northern New Mexico. If you have questions about constitutional rights or the law please ask, I cannot give legal advice but I can explain complex laws and procedures so that we are all more versed in the laws and procedures that protect citizens from the government. I grew up a SLC Punk and love politically based and intelligent hip hop artists, so I will often include music in my posts when possible. It is not being utilized enough and is a great means of reaching a large audience to unveil social problems. I look forward to contributing what I can to this page and national movement.
