Job Description: - 6+ years prior experience as a Data Analyst is required. - Responsible for data analysis, validation, cleansing, collection and reporting. - Understands physical data models. - Extract and analyze data from various sources (large data sets), including databases, manual files, and external websites. - Respond to data inquiries from various groups within an organization. - Create and publish regularly scheduled and/or ad hoc reports as needed. - Document reporting requirements and process and validate data components as required. - Experience with relational databases and technology knowledge of query tools and/or statistical software required. - Strong analytical and organizational skills required. - Logical, problem solving skills. - Understands data acquisition tools and process. - Expert in data structure Works closely with IT and Data Architect. - Responsible for tuning with query optimizing techniques. - Ability to analyze, research or query data using SQL. - Ability to report on data using enterprise, industry standard reporting tools like SQL Server Reporting Services. - Ability to present, interpret, discuss or write about the conclusions, inferences and results gained from researching data. - Ability to analyze data in Excel, prepare Excel spreadsheets (expert level) or PowerPoint presentation to explain your results. - Ability to research concepts and issues on the Internet using search engines and other web based research tools. Preferred Skills: - Oracle Database Design & Modeling - PL/SQL and SQL Loader - Performance Tuning - Shell Programming - System architecture Diagrams - Transportation or Railroad industry data experience is beneficial - Crystal Reports and Business Objects.
