Please sign this letter to urge the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Interim State Superintendent of Education to reconsider whether public funds should be used to support the suffering at Southern Quality Meats (SQM). The footage shows one SQM worker inhumanely treating pigs with electric prongs for no apparent reason. This is in violation of the federal Humane Methods of Livestock Slaughter Act. MDE has awarded contracts worth more than $6 million in taxpayer funds to SQM.
