Please spread the word: IL House of Representative Tim Schmitz from the 65th District (Geneva) a fellow Firefighter votes in favor of an unconstitutional pension cutting bill!!! Senate Bill 1 would make it impossible for retirees to keep up with rising cost-of-living expenses in retirement, especially health care. It erodes the value of a senior citizens pension by one-third or more, taking away huge portions of the life-savings of all public employees and retirees. What’s more, SB 1 violates the constitution – and a bill thrown out by the courts wont “save” a penny. This illegal pension bill further endangers Illinois finances and the solvency of its retirement systems. It simply kicks the can down the road and will save the state nothing.
