Please tell me... If our home needs updates and renovations, and our family needs additional source(s) of income, would it be wrong for us to try and find ways to achieve these objectives? If it is not wrong then why can’t we do the same for our community? My name is Joseph Khan; my family and I moved to Faro in 2001 and lived here for only one year. However, in that short period of time we fell in love with this town. People that we didn’t know before treated us as members of a family; did not let us feel that we were newcomers to this town. In 2002, for work related reasons we moved to BC. While in BC, we always thought and spoke about Faro. Eventually, in early 2013, we moved back to Faro. Three of our grown up daughters also moved back to Faro. With support from family and friends, I started the Faro Yukon Facebook page and Friends of Faro Facebook group to promote Faro on my own time. I have been asked about my agenda. My agenda is “promotion and economic growth of Faro”. We have community members who are away from their families working elsewhere. Wouldn’t it be nice to have opportunities so that they can work in town and be home every day? I am neither a politician nor am I interested in any political office. I am also not a secret agent of a large corporation with sinister motives. I come from a part of the world where people are not allowed to speak; therefore, I take democratic process very seriously. Democracy is a sacred gift but we have to participate in it and let is flourish otherwise what is the point in having democracy? I would like to request you to please go through the comments and posts on these two pages and see if I have tried to promote Faro and democratic process or any personal agenda. I have tried to keep my name in the background because I did not wish to promote myself. I wanted it to be about Faro not about myself. However, my introduction on Faro Yukon page clearly shows who I am. Also, at times when any one asked who was writing for Faro Yukon I explained who I was. If you feel that I have done anything wrong or misguided anyone in anyway please express your feelings in comments below. If some of you would not want to make a public comment for whatever reasons please message me personally. I welcome your thoughts, opinions and comments. THANK YOU and have a great weekend!!!
