Pochs Verdict Mauricio Pochettino couldnt hide his disappointment after a late own goal denied us maximum points at Sunderland. Younes Kaboul heads clear from Connor Wickham 1/2 Younes Kaboul heads clear from Connor Wickham Our attacking play certainly caught the eye as we registered 15 attempts at goal to Sunderland’s six and led twice only for the home team to level on both occasions as it ended 2-2 at the Stadium of Light. In a breathless start to the game, Nacer Chadli opened the scoring on three minutes, Adam Johnson levelled two minutes later and Vito Mannone denied Emmanuel Adebayor from point-blank range - all inside seven minutes. Mousa Dembele struck the woodwork as we dominated the first half and we regained the lead two minutes into the second half when Christian Eriksen pounced from close range. We continued knocking on the door - Erik Lamela curled onto the crossbar - but couldn’t find the key third goal and were hit by an unfortunate own goal eight minutes from time. “We created a lot of chances and managed the game well but we needed to kill the game off,” said Mauricio. “We had opportunities in the second half but we conceded late for 2-2 and in football, it happens like that. “We switched off after we scored the first goal and conceded an equaliser. We need to analyse the game and improve but it was a good performance and we’re disappointed because we played well. “The stats are all there for us today, but we’ve only got one point. It’s a shame but we need to look forward.”
