Poem Poems very rarely make me choke. This one did. The story behind it is that just over two weeks ago, my dear old friend Chris Hurles was admitted to St Marys Hospital, Paddington, London, to have a huge aneurism removed. He was only given a 20% chance of survival. Mercifully he is still with us and is now recovering well although he is very weak and it will take him a long, long time to get better. For much of this time, Chriss partner Jason has been going through hell. Jason, who is both a poet and a biker, wrote this poem as a result. It expresses exactly how he has been feeling. As I told him, it has now been included in my own personal poetry collection and it got there purely on merit, NOT because he is a friend of mine. I have received permission from him to post it on this page. As I said to him, work like this deserves an audience. Judge for yourselves.
