Poetry Month has started in the Kopila Valley School and I inaugurated by reading my fav poem, Charge of the Light Brigade of the Crimean war. During Anglo-Nepal War of 1816, our Sardar Bhakti Thapa had made a similar charge against the British cannons during the Battle of Malau but hardly anyone remembers that. It was an infantry charge, more dangerous compared to a cavalry charge and not less brave. Unfortunately we didnt have writers nor media to record the event. The British were magnaninous and returned the body of Bhakti Thapa with full military honours. The British Army still has the Brigade of Gurkhas. Whenever I remember the Charge of the Light Brigade, I remember our Bhakti Thapa making a similar charge. Salaam Sir!
