Pole Banging - An Effective Tactic The Faroese whalers have - TopicsExpress

Pole Banging - An Effective Tactic The Faroese whalers have been talking and one of the things they observed about yesterdays event was that the Sea Shepherd crew in the water banging on the poles actually succeeded in making the whales turn back. The dolphin murderers in Taiji bang on metal poles to create a wall of sound to drive the dolphins forward. Sea Shepherd tried it yesterday on the beach for the first time although the boat crew had already found it effective for turning pilot whale pods back out to sea. It was only when the police intervened and the poles were removed that the whales were turned back again to the beach where their killers waited with sharp knives and evil intentions. Compassionate People with metal poles can save whales. I am attaching a film clip from yesterday showing the arrests of Sea Shepherd volunteers. Again I must applaud these brave men and women. Heavily outnumbered against an opposition backed by the police and the military they waded into the fray with metal poles to save whales. Of course they were over-powered but they conducted themselves with dignity and courage despite verbal threats and the sadness and horror of hearing the screams of the whales and seeing their blood stain the sea. Other observations from yesterday: Police were seen being handed white bags containing whale meat in appreciation for their services. The cameras were returned to the volunteers but all memory cards were removed and seized. Oh, and the mayor of Sandoy replaced the signs in the public toilets, This time he spelt Shepherd correctly. One Faroese commentator angrily accused us of lying for saying the tiny fins of unborn baby whales had been sliced off, yet he could not offer an explanation as to just where the fins came from. Another critic claimed we planted them without saying where we could have gotten them from, to which another critic said we stole them but could not say from where. Oh the joy of working within a population of methyl-mercury addled brains. From stealing toilet paper to stealing baby pilot whale fins from who knows where! The accusations get more ridiculous each day. The crew are presently at the courthouse in Torshaven awaiting judgement on their random acts of kindness and their renegade acts of mercy. The attached video is in Faroese, not the most common language in the world so difficult to translate but the pictures get the story across without the banter being required.
