Police Activity Update – 19/7/13 About 8.20pm on the 18th of July, 2013 an Oxley Highway Patrol vehicle stopped a 40 year old Tamworth man on his birthday in a White Mitsubishi Magna on the New England Highway at Gowrie. The man was originally detected for allegedly speeding at 140km/h in a 100km/h zone. Subsequent inquiries conducted by police revealed there were a number of passengers in the vehicle. After some further investigation the man is alleged to have been in breach of an apprehended violence order due to his association with some of his passengers. The man was arrested and conveyed to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged and bail refused for contravening an apprehended violence order. He was also issued with an infringement notice to the value of $815 for speeding at in excess of 30km/h over the speed limit. About 11.15pm on the 17th of July, 2013 Tamworth Police were patrolling Jill Street, South Tamworth when they stopped a 29 year old Calala man. The man was subjected to a search where police will allege he was in possession of a knife without a lawful excuse. The man was issued with a $550 infringement notice and the knife was confiscated.
