Police Dock Mortuary Attendant Over Missing Human Parts Police detectives in Delta State Police Command, Asaba, have arrested a middle-aged man identified as Moses Ovie over missing parts of a dead septuagenarian at a private hospital mortuary in Asaba. Police public relations officer in the state DSP Celestina Kalu confirmed that police detectives acted on a tip-off from relations of the deceased to arrest the suspect, who he said was currently helping the police at the state CID with useful statements. It was learnt when the family of the deceased came to collect him from the mortuary, they discovered that his genital organs and parts of his ears had been allegedly removed and they raised the alarm, which attracted the security man to the scene. While interrogation lasted, the attendant was said to have given conflicting excuses, a situation that caused his interrogators to give him a beating of his life, but police detectives arrived at the scene to take him away. Speaking further, DSP Kalu said the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation, adding that there were glaring evidence as indicated by relations of the deceased where parts of the body were mutilated and removed. The deceased, a farmer, was said to have died during a brief ailment and his corpse was deposited at the mortuary to allow his family some time to make proper arrangements for his burial, only for them to come for his corpse to discover that it had been violated.
